Debra Vanderlaan Wins The Gold Medal At Silver Arts Photography Category

Lake Worth, FL - May 21st, 2012

A big congratulations to Debra Vanderlaan for her Gold Medal in the Silver Arts Senior Games competition in Cherokee County, North Carolina! Her winning image, "Hanging Garden", won overall and is now eligible to compete in the State Competition of North Carolina. The image was captured in autumn, 2 years ago, along the Ocoee River of Tennessee in the Cherokee National Forest. Featuring the planted cypress trees on a foggy calm morning, the image is popular at the art fairs and galleries that Debra shows in. Congrats Debra on your Gold Medal and good luck in the state competition!

Debra Vanderlaan Captures Silver In The Silver Arts Photography Competition

Lake Worth, FL - May 21st, 2012

Her 2nd award in the Silver Arts Photography Category at the Senior Games of Cherokee County, North Carolina, Debra Vanderlaan not only captured the gold medal but the silver as well! With the photography category the largest and most sought-after awards, Debra was honored to have taken both top spots. Her silver medal photography is titled "Wildfire" and was captured this year at Jekyll Island, Georgia on Driftwood Beach at sunrise. Her silver medal makes Debra eligible to compete at the state competition held in September. Good luck Debra!

Dave Vanderlaan Snags Bronze Medal At Silver Arts

Lake Worth, FL - May 21st, 2012

Congratulations to Dave Vanderlaan for winning the Bronze Medal in the Photography category at the Senior Games Silver Arts Competition in Cherokee County North Carolina on May 15, 2012. The photography category was the most hotly-contested with over 40 entries. Dave's beautiful farm barn image titled "Pinto Beans", caught the judges' eyes, presented in black and white and mounted in one of Dave's special hand-crafted rustic pine black-stained frames. Congrats Dave!

Dave Vanderlaan Wins Best Of Grassy Waters Contest

Lake Worth, FL - April 16th, 2012

Grassy Waters is a huge nature preserve in western Palm Beach County. Each year, the preserve holds a large photography contest that features images from anywhere in the 23 square miles of nearly 15,000 acres of natural park. Photographic subjects include birds, deer, raccoon, alligators, swamps, cat-walks, cypress trees, and lots of water! Fine Art America's member Dave Vanderlaan's unique black and white image was chosen as Best Grassy Waters Photograph. Titled Cypress Mountains, the image features the cypress knees and trees at the water's edge in a remote section of the park. His image will be used on the Grassy Waters poster all year, to be given out to visitors at the preserve's nature center. Congratulations Dave!

Debra Vanderlaan Wins Best Of Show In State Park Contest

The Jonathan Dickenson State Park holds a big photography contest each year. Entries are in categories from Nature to Florida Landscape to J.D. State Park images. First place this year 2012 was won by Fine Art America's member Debra Vanderlaan for her image Coral Garden, captured at sunrise on Jupiter Island at Coral Cove Park. Congratulations Debra!

Debra Vanderlaan Wins Special Recognition

Lake Worth, FL - March 6th, 2012

Light Space and Time Gallery just concluded it's February art competition with our own Fine Art America member Debra Vanderlaan winning a Special Recognition Award for her waterfall image titled Parachuting. The gallery's art competition for February was “Landscapes” whereby artists where asked to interpret and depict the natural world, outdoor scenery, geographical environments’ and any related landscape subjects. The submission process and competition for the artists began in the middle of January 2012 and concluded on February 27, 2012. Light Space and Time received 808 entries from 209 artists, from 14 different countries from around the world, including the Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Iran, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom. In addition, we received entries from 33 different states. Congratulations to Debra Vanderlaan for her special recognition award!

January's competition in Light Space and Time was “All Women” and the subject was an “open theme” and for women artists only. The gallery received entries from 310 artists, from 21 different countries from around the world, including the Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Northern Ireland, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom. In addition, they received entries from 39 different states. Debra Vanderlaan's image titled Wet Dream won the Photography category in this prestigious international contest!

Debra Vanderlaan In The Finals Of The Appalachian Mountains Photography Competition

Lake Worth, FL - January 24th, 2012

Fine Art America's member Debra Vanderlaan's image titled Morning Pink has been selected for the Finals of the Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition 2012. The image was selected in the Flora and Fauna category out of over 1000 entries overall. Top awards totally over $4000 will be awarded on opening night February 3 at the Turchin Center gallery of the Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. All finalist images will hang in the gallery until June 1st and the show is open to the public.

Debra Vanderlaan, Silver Medalist In National Juried Photography Show

Lake Worth, FL - September 20th, 2011

The Blue Ridge Mountain Photographers held a National Juried Photography exhibit this month and Fine Art America member Debra Vanderlaan was a silver medalist in the Fine Art category with her image Hanging Garden. The judge was Todd Sparger, nationally-known nature and portrait photographer. He selected Ms. Vanderlaan's image for it's moody quality and especially liked the reflections in the perfectly still lake water.

The Smithsonian Magazine's Editors select just seven images each week from the tens of thousands that are submitted for their yearly contest to feature on their Weekly Pick Gallery and Debra Vanderlaan's image titled Sandhill Sunset was selected this week as one of the features. What a surprise and honor!
